The significant annual growth in electric vehicle adoption necessitates the development of adequate battery charging infrastructure for electric motorcycles. Public Electric Vehicle Battery Swapping Stations (PEVBSS) represent a critical component of this infrastructure, catering to the battery charging needs of the community. However, the extensive deployment of PEVBSS can adversely impact the electrical grid, particularly concerning power quality issues arising from the switching semiconductor components that convert AC voltage to DC voltage for battery charger requirements. The harmonic phenomena generated by PEVBSS can compromise the reliability of both the grid and the PEVBSS itself if not properly managed. The objective of this thesis is to identify the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) caused by PEVBSS under real operating conditions. The identification results will be modeled using software to design appropriate mitigation strategies for PEVBSS, employing Single Tuned Power Filters (STPF) and Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPF). Based on direct measurements made on PEVBSS with previous measurement results of 101.2%. By implementing STPF and SAPF on the model in this study, a significant reduction in THD value can be achieved up to 11.2% using STPF and 2.31% using SAPF, which shows the effectiveness of this mitigation technique in overcoming the harmonic phenomenon by reducing the value of individual harmonics from 3rd order to 50th order in accordance with the threshold in IEEE 519-2014 standard.

Keywords: Power Quality, PEVBSS, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
