Abstraksi

ABSTRAKSI: Kebanyakan situs web dibangun khusus untuk tampilan layar PC (Personal Computer) yang memiliki memiliki resolusi sekitar 1024 x 768 pixel. Tentu saja hal ini tidak efektif jika situs web tersebut ingin diakses menggunakan mobile device seperti PDA yang memiliki ukuran layar sekitar 240 x 320 pixel dan pada mobile phone sekitar 176 x 208 pixel. Disamping itu, saat ini juga terjadi kecenderungan (trend) pada masyarakat untuk dapat mengakses situs web menggunakan mobile device di manapun dan kapanpun. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut perlu adanya suatu cara untuk mengadaptasikan situs web tersebut agar dapat diakses oleh semua jenis mobile device. Salah satu cara yang dimplementasikan dalam tugas akhir ini adalah Mobile Transcoding Site (MTS) yang merupakan sebuah situs WAP yang mampu melakukan adaptasi secara otomatis terhadap situs web sesuai dengan kemampuan mobile device yang mengaksesnya. Proses apatasi yang dilakukan oleh MTS terdiri dari konversi markup language, manipulasi image hingga menyesuaikan tata letak (lay out) namun tetap menjaga informasi yang ada didalamnya. Konversi markup language yang dilakukan meliputi dari HTML ke WML, HTML ke XHTML MP dan penyederhanaan HTML. MTS bersifat sebagai media perantara antara user dengan situs web asal. Melalui MTS setiap jenis situs web akan dapat diakses menggunakan semua jenis mobile device. Of course, that things are ineffective if that web sites need to be accessed with mobile device like PDA which has 240 x 320 pixel screen resolution and mobile phone about 176 x 208 pixel screen resolution. Be side that, trends that also happened today, people want to access web sites with mobile device every where and any time. Because of that, to resolve this problem, are needed methods to adapt any web site, in order that can be accessed by all kaind of mobile device One of the method that is implemented in this final project is Mobile Transcoding Site (MTS). MTS is a WAP site that can do adaptation to web site automatically base on the capabilities of the mobile device. Adaptation process that is done by MTS consist of markup language convertion, image manipulation up to redesign the lay out, but still keep the information inside. Markup language convertion includes HTML to WML, HTML to XHTML MP and simplify HTML. Characteristic of MTS is a intermediate connection between user with the original web sites.
