Abstraksi

ABSTRAKSI: Performansi adalah salah satu hal yang dijadikan pertimbangan dalam pemilihan sebuah media penyimpanan data. Seiring berkembangnya dunia informasi saat ini, peranan DBMS sebagai perangkat lunak untuk menyimpan dan mengelola basis data akan semakin terasa. Selain DBMS, ada sebuah format penyimpanan data yang memiliki struktur hierarkis yang sama dengan database relasional dan mudah dalam pertukaran informasi yaitu XML. Namun, di era selanjutnya dimana pertukaran informasi sangat cepat, performansi menjadi suatu hal yang mutlak diperlukan untuk menjamin ketepatan dan kecepatan penyampaian informasi.<br>Ada beberapa parameter yang dapat digunakan untuk menguji performansi suatu media penyimpanan data. Parameter tersebut antara lain response time dan throughput. Semakin sedikit response time dan semakin besar throughput suatu penyimpanan data, maka format penyimpanan data tersebut memiliki performansi yang baik.<br>Dari analisis yang dilakukan dengan parameter response time dan throughput, didapat bahwa DBMS memiliki performansi yang lebih baik daripada XML, karena DBMS telah memiliki sistem dan arsitektur yang lebih baik daripada XML.<br>Kata Kunci : XML, database relational, performansi, DBMS, response time,ABSTRACT: Performance is one of the considerations made in selecting a data storage media. Along with the development of the world of information at this time, as the role of DBMS as software to store and manage database will be increasingly felt. DBMS addition, there is a data storage format that has a structure similar to that hierarkis database relasional and easy exchange of information is in XML. However, in the next era where rapid information exchange, performance becomes a matter that is absolutely necessary to ensure the accuracy and speed of delivery of information.<br>There are several parameters that can be used to test the performance of a data storage media. Parameters, among other response time and throughput.
