Makrame adalah salah satu teknik desain struktur tekstil dengan proses simpul-menyimpul tali atau benang yang menghasilkan sebuah motif dekoratif. Berdasarkan data penelitian akademisi S1 kriya tekstil tahun 2016-2017, penelitian dengan topik bahasan tentang makrame masih minim. Berbeda dengan penelitian, bahasan mengeni makrame populer di masyarakat. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan tingginya pengadaan kegiatan kreatif DIY (Do-It-Yourselft) workshop class dan tingginya minat masyarakat pada produk aksesoris fesyen dengan teknik makrame. Berdasarkan data observasi, penggunaan material dan pertimbangan desain pada pengaplikasian teknik makrame sebagai aksesoris fesyen belum optimal. Oleh sebab itu, makrame memiliki untuk dibahas lebih lanjut melalui penelitan dengan fokus pada pengembangan olahan makrame yang inovatif dan variatif sebagai produk aksesoris fesyen.
Penelitian ini dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder melalu observasi, wawancara, eksperimen dan studi pustaka. Metode eksperimen yang dilakukan mengangkat keunggulan karakteristik teknik makrame dari kekuatan struktur dan nilai estetika dekoratif. Menciptakan berbagai variasi desain makrame dengan mengoptimalkan potensi material-material yang digunakan. Konsep perancangan menerapkan bentuk-bentuk geometris, garis, tekstur, dan mengeksplorasi warna-warna pastel. Hasil penelitian ini menawarkan alternatif desain berupa produk aksesoris fesyen dengan teknik makrame yang lebih bervariatif dan inovatif untuk remaja perempuan dengan karakteristik feminim.

Macrame is one of structure design technique of textile which is knotting string or yarn so that produce pattern decorative . According to the research undergraduate of kriya textile academician in 2016-2017, research development on the topic of macrame technique is still lack. Different from research, the topic of macrame is more popular in people. This is evidenced, there are the increase of DIY (Do It Yourself) workshop class and people are interested fashion accessories product of macramé. Based on observation data, the use of materials and design considerations on the application of macrame technique as fashion accessories is still not optimal. Therefore, macrame has to be discussed further through research with a focus on developing innovative and varied macrame as a fashion accessories product.
This research was conducted qualitatively by collecting primary and secondary data through observation, interview, experiment and literature studies. The experiment method investigate the superiority of macrame technique characteristic from the strength of structure and the value of decorative aesthetics. It also creates many variations of macrame design that optimizes the potential of materials which are used. The planning concept applies the shapes of geometry, line, texture, and explores pastel colour. The result of this research shows the alternative design of fashion accessories with variative and innovatif macrame technique for feminine teenage girls.
