ABSTRAKSI: Teknologi metro Ethernet merupakan salah satu sarana bagi terciptanya Next Generation Network (NGN). Teknologi ini memiliki kemanpuan transfer data sampai dengan 10 Gbps. Pada saat ini jaringan metro Ethernet banyak diimplementasikan dengan menggunakan media fisik berupa fiber optic sebagai media transmisinya sehingga bersifat fixed. Namun seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi dan perkembangan trend, selain kecepatan transfer data yang tinggi, teknologi baru ini juga dituntut untuk dapat mendukung komunikasi yang bersifat mobile.
WiMAX merupakan teknologi akses nirkabel pita lebar yang memiliki kecepatan akses yang tinggi dengan jangkauan yang luas serta mendukung mobilitas yang tinggi. Standar WiMAX yang digunakan yaitu standar IEEE 802.16e dengan kecepatan data lebih dari 75 Mbps dan memiliki kemampuan handover dan hand off sehingga diharapkan dapat mendukung teknologi metro ethernet dengan dukungan mobilitas yang tinggi.
Dalam tugas akhir ini akan disimualasikan teknologi Mobile Metro Ehternet over WiMAX dan di analisa perfornamsinya. Simulasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui performansi dari teknologi Mobile Metro Ethernet over WiMax. Peformansi ditekankan pada perameter QoS (Throughput, Delay, serta Packet Loss ).
Pada penelitian tugas akhir ini didapatkan bahwa teknologi Mobile Metro Ehternet over WiMAX dapat memberikan pelanyanan Qos dengan baik untuk user dengan mobilitas tinnggi sampai dengan kecepatan 130 km/h. Namun untuk jumlah user yang sangat banyak teknologi Mobile Metro Ehternet over WiMAX dirasakan kurang dapat memberkan QoS yang baik. Manajemen antrian WFQ lebih tepat untuk diterapkan pada teknologi Mobile Metro Ehternet over WiMAX. Karena selain memberikan besarnya throughput, management antrian WFQ mempunyai nilai fairness yang lebih baik dibandingkan manajemen antrian lainnya.Kata Kunci : Metro Ethernet, WiMax, Ethernet.ABSTRACT: Metro Ethernet technology is one means for the creation of Next Generation Network (NGN). WiMax is a broadband wireless access technology that has high speed access with a wide range and supports high mobility. WiMax standard used by the IEEE 802.16e standard with data speeds more than 75 Mbps. It has the ability to handover and hand off so that it can support the Metro Ethernet technology with high mobility.
In this final project will be done simualasi Mobile Metro Ethernet over WiMAX technology and analyzes the perfornamsi of these technologies. The simulation is conducted to determine the performance of Mobile Metro Ethernet over WiMax technology. Peformance emphasized in the QOS parameter above (Throughput, Delay, and Packet Loss).
In this final project was found that the mobile metro etherenet over wimax technology can delivered good Qos for user with high mobility up to 130 km/hour. But for the large amount of user, the mbile metro etherenet over wimax technology cannot delivered good QOS. The WfQ queue management is better implemented in mobile metro ethernet over wimax. Because it gives the value of throughout and has the better fairness value than other queue management.Keyword: Metro Ethernet, WiMax, Ethernet.
