ABSTRAKSI: Telkomsel sebagai salah satu operator terbesar di Indonesia selalu berusaha meningkatkan kualitas jaringannya. Kali ini telkomsel berencana memperluas coverage serta meningkatkan kapasitas di area Pelabuhan Pondong, Desa Padang Pengrapat, Kecamatan Tanah Grogot, Kalimantan Timur. Bila ditinjau dari data trafik telkomsel, daerah tersebut mempunyai kepadatan trafik yang tinggi, oleh karena itu telkomsel berencana menambah satu BTS baru didaerah tersebut.
Membangun sebuah BTS memerlukan biaya yang besar, oleh karena itu perlu perencanaan yang sangat matang. Langkah – langkah yang perlu dilakukan antara lain survei secara aktual dilapangan untuk menentukan titik koordinat lokasi pembangunan BTS baru, pre sitac (site acquisition), pre cme (civil mechanical engineering), perencanaan link radio terrestrial, perencanaan coverage, perencanaan kapasitas dan melakukan analisis serta simulasi hasil perencanaan. BTS baru ini dibangun di daerah Pelabuhan Pondong, Desa Padang Pengrapat, Kecamatan Tanah Grogot, Kalimantan Timur.
Hasil yang didapatkan adalah BTS baru ini memperbaiki kualitas sinyal pada daerah tersebut serta mengatasi kepadatan trafik pada sektor B site Jl.Minyak2 (site Pelabuhan Pondong). Untuk mencapai kondisi LOS, antena microwave diletakkan di ketinggian 60 m disisi near end dan 50 m disisi far end. MAPL untuk arah uplink sebesar 155.51 dB sedangkan untuk arah downlink sebesar 155.51 dB. Jari – jari sel hasil perencanaan coverage didapat 2,11 Km. Kebutuhan TRX tiap sektor adalah sektor A (30°) sebesar 5 TRX, sektor B (110°) sebesar 5 TRX dan sektor C (230°) sebesar 4 TRX. Titik koordinat pendirian BTS adalah S1.84224 E116.23313.

This new base stations built in the Pelabuhan Pondong, Padang Pengrapat village, Tanah Grogot district, East Kalimantan.
The result is, this new base stations improve signal quality in that area and also overcome the traffic density in the sector B site Jl.Minyak2 (site Pelabuhan Pondong). To achieve LOS conditions, the microwave antenna is placed at a height of 60 m side near end and far end side 50 m. MAPL for the uplink of 155.51 dB whereas for the downlink of 155.51 dB.
