ABSTRAKSI: Telnet merupakan service yang menggunakan koneksi TCP/IP port 23 yang berfungsi untuk melakukan pengaksesan jarak jauh (remote access) ke suatu komputer tujuan (remote computer) pada Internet dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi yang dinamakan telnet client.
Pada tugas akhir ini dibangun aplikasi telnet client pada mobile phone dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Java dengan platform J2ME serta menggunakan koneksi GPRS dalam membangun koneksi ke Internet.. Aplikasi ini kompatibel pada semua mobile phone yang dapat menjalankan aplikasi Java, baik yang memiliki spesifikasi Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 1.0 maupun MIDP 2.0.
Untuk menganalisa aplikasi telnet client ini, dilakukan running test dan analisis performansi input dan output.Dari hasil implementasi dan analisis didapat bahwa aplikasi telnet client dapat berjalan dengan baik dan layak diterapkan pada mobile phone Keterbatasan mobile phone dalam menghasilkan input menggunakan bantuan terminal emulator vt320 sementara keterbatasan ukuran layar dalam menampilkan output ditangani dengan menyediakan tampilan layar yang fleksibel (ukuran layar dapat diganti) dan dengan proses scrolling layar.Kata Kunci : remote access, remote computer, telnet client, mobile phoneABSTRACT: Telnet is a service that uses TCP/IP connection on port 23, to perform remote access on a remote computer on the Internet using an application called telnet client application.
On this Final Project a telnet client application will be implemented on a mobile phone using Java programming language with J2ME as platform and GPRS connection to establish a connection to the Internet. This Application is compatible on all mobile phones that runs Java application with Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 1.0 or MIDP 2.0 specification.
To analyze the performance of this telnet client application, running test and input-output performance test are held. Based on the implementation and analysis, it is concluded that implementation of a telnet client on mobile phone is applicable and the application is running properly on mobile phone. Limitation of mobile phone keypad to provide input to user is handled by using the vt320 terminal emulator while displaying output on limited screen area is solved with flexible screen size (screen size is adjustable) and with screen scrolling operation.Keyword: remote access, remote computer, telnet client, mobile phone
