ABSTRAKSI: Semakin berkembangnya teknologi internet, menyebabkan semakin padatnya konektifitas internet. Secara de facto BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) banyak digunakan sebagai routing protocol global internet. Syarat fullmesh wajib untuk setiap router iBGP, sehingga memungkinkan terbentuknya banyak session antar iBGP router, dan hal ini dapat menambah jumlah informasi routing di tabel routing.
Salah satu cara, untuk mengurangi jumlah informasi di tabel routing, digunakan metode confederation. Yaitu dengan cara membagi satu cloud AS menjadi beberapa sub-AS. Dalam Tugas Akhir ini diimplementasikan metode confederation dengan meng-emulasikan router CISCO dan dianalisis beberapa parameter QoS yaitu; end to end delay, throughput, dan forwarding delay.
Dari hasil pengujian dapat disimpulkan bahwa performansi forwarding pada BGP confederation selalu lebih unggul karena besarnya informasi routing yang ada di dalam tabel forwarding menjadi lebih sedikit, sehingga proses lookup tabelnya menjadi lebih cepat dan End to end delay dan throughput pada confederation akan lebih baik jika jumlah hop yang dilewati sama dengan jumlah hop pada fullmesh. Namun end to end delay dan throughput pada confederation menjadi lebih buruk jika jumlah hop yang dilewati lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan fullmesh.Kata Kunci : BGP, confederationABSTRACT: The continued development of internet technology, led to increasingly crowded internet connectivity. The de facto BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing protocol is widely used as a global internet. Fullmesh mandatory requirement for every iBGP router, allowing the formation of many iBGP session between routers, and this can increase the amount of routing information in routing tables.
One way to reduce the amount of information in the routing tables, used methods of Confederation. Ie by dividing the cloud into several sub-AS AS. In this final project is implemented method to Emulate Confederation with CISCO routers and analyzed some of the QoS parameters, namely: end to end delay, throughput, and the forwarding delay.
From the test results can be concluded that the BGP Confederation forwarding performance is always superior because of the amount of routing information that is in the forwarding table to be much less, so that the lookup table is faster and End-to-end delay and throughput in the Confederation would be better if the number of hops that is passed as the number of hops on fullmesh. But the end to end delay and throughput in the Confederation becomes worse if the number of hops through which more than fullmesh.Keyword: BGP, confederation
