ABSTRAKSI: Seiring berkembang nya teknologi yang pesat dan perkembangan dunia telekomunikasi dan informasi dikembangkanlah teknologi untuk meningkatkan layanan rea l - time dan jasa pe ngiriman paket data multimedia yaitu IMS atau Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem . Salah satu layanan IMS dapat mengirimkan suara dalam bentuk paket secara real - time melewati jaringan IP yang dikenal dengan Voice over Internet Protocol atau VoIP. Untuk mendukung layanan tersebut dibutuhkan jaringan yang cepat dan handal serta dapat menangani kegagalan jaringan yang terjadi , karena jika tidak ditangani maka kualitas VoIP akan terganggu atau bahkan hubungan tersebut terputus . Pada jaringan sering ditemukan masalah yang menyebabkan terputusnya jaringan dan mengakibatkan kegagalan pengiriman da ta. Untuk itu dibutuhkan protocol yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut agar paket data layanan VoIP dapat dikirimkan tanpa mengganggu kualitas layanan VoIP yang telah ditetapkan oleh ITU - T, yaitu Gateway Load Balancing Protocol atau GLBP.
LBP memiliki router active dan standby . Router active menjadi AVG ( Active Virtual Gateway ) sebagai gateway pengiriman paket dari client dan bertugas membagi jumlah client dengan prins ip load balancing ke router yang standby sebagai AVF ( Active Virtual Forwarder ) yang bertugas untuk mengirimkan paket untuk client tersebut. Load balancing adalah prinsip penyeimbangan beban atau muatan paket yang dikirimkan melalui router - router yang akti f .
Dari hasil pengujian diketahui bahwa kegagalan AVG pada GLBP dapat direcovery lebih cepat dari pada kegagalan AVF , k arena AVG berada di jaringan antara switch dan router dengan waktu hello time GLBP 3 detik dan hold time 10 detik, sedangkan AVF di jarin gan antara router dan router sehingga recovery bergantun g pada routing protocol OSPF dengan hello time 10 detik dan death time interval 40 detik .

One of the IMS’s service can send sound package in real - time through IP network known as V olce o vers I nternet P rotocol or VoIP . To support the service , network needed rapid, reliable, and can handle failure network , if this failure not corrected then VoIP quality will decrease and the service will disconected. On the network often found pr oblem that causes network failu r e and failed to delivery data. So , network require a protocol that can solve the problem , then service VoIP can be transmitted w ithout disturbing the services V o IP as stipulated by ITU - T, namely G ateway L oad B alancing P rotoc ol or GLBP.
GLBP have active and standy router . Router active be comes AVG ( Active Virtual Gateway ) as a gateway of delivery package from client and responsible for dividing the number of client with load balancing principle to standby router as AVF ( Active Virtual Forwarder ) which is responsible for sending package to client. Load Balancing is principle of balancing the load or loads a package that is sent through active routers.
From the testing can be known that failure AVG recover ed faster than on failur e AVF because AVG is network between switches and router with 3 seconds hello time and 10 second hold time of GLBP , but AVF is in the network between router and router so that recovery depend on routing protocol OSPF with hello time 10 seconds and death ti me interval 40 seconds.
