eProceedings of International Conference on Transformation in Communications - ICoTiC 2016

07 February 2017 Oleh yudhinugrohoadi Dilihat 423 kali

After the first conference held in 2015 with the theme "Cultural Dialogue and Ethical Issues in Globalized World", the 2nd ICoTiC is re-organized with more challenging theme for academics and practitioners from various disciplines, namely "Bridging Communication among Communities in The Globalized Interconnected Era".

This event will be a joint conference between School of Communication and Business of Telkom University and Asosiasi Pendidikan Tinggi Ilmu Komunikasi (ASPIKOM), and some universities: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universitas Udayana (UNUD), Universitas Bina Nusantara (Binus University) and Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati (UIN – SGD).

The 2nd ICoTiC will be held on 23-24 November 2016 at Novotel Hotel Bandung, West Java. The choosing of the city as the site of the conference is based on the fact that Bandung as the third largest city in Indonesia is known by its cozy weather, friendly people, natural tourism objects (Tangkuban Perahu Mountain, Kawah Putih Volcanic Lake, Situ Patenggan Lake, etc) and cultural tourism objects as well (historical buildings such as Gedung Sate, Gedung Merdeka, Bosscha Observatories, and Savoy Homann Hotel). Beyond that, Bandung is progressively evolving towards a modern city. By maximizing the function of the city parks, the more sophisticated infrastructures, and the use of the Internet for the benefit of public services, Bandung is appropriately considered as a representation of the interconnected city. Apparently, Bandung, along with Buenos Aires, Curitiba, Dubai, Moscow, and Peterborough, was a finalist for the award Smart City Awards in 2015. Hence, it is not an exaggeration to have Bandung as the venue of the 2nd ICoTiC.

Futhermore, through the 2nd ICoTiC, we are encouraging all academics and those who work in the field of communication sciences, economics and business, techno-culture, new media, journalism, public relations, marketing communication, politics, and those who have an interest in arts, humanities, politics, and issues related to race, gender, and ethnicity, to acknowledge as well as to examine the times in which we live today, and become part of the solution to all the problems.
